A Look into Dylan Minnette’s Relationship with Kerris Dorsey
Who Is Dylan Anyway?
Dylan Minnette is best known as the lead actor in the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why and lead singer of rock band Wallows.

Dylan’s Dating History (As of 2025)
| Kerris Dorsey (actress) | 2014 – 2018 |
| Lydia Night (singer) | 2018 – 2022 |
| Isabella Elei (model) | 2023 – Present Day |
Here, we will focus on the relationship between Dylan and Kerris. It’s a meaningful one that encapsulates young love but is often overlooked as compared to his higher-profile relationship with Lydia Night, lead singer of the now-disbanded rock band The Regrettes.
A Blooming Romance
Dylan and Kerris met on the set of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, a 2014 family-friendly comedy film where they played siblings.

When the two met, Dylan was 17 and Kerris was 16. They bonded over a shared passion for music and contributed to the film’s soundtrack, which includes a track by The Narwhals (former name of Wallows) and another by the talented Dorsey sisters (Best Worst Day Ever).
In December 2015, The Narwhals released their now-deleted single lilla Be Mine, which is about Kerris (who has the middle name Lilla).
Moments Together
Dylan and Kerris went to events hand in hand and performed on stage together. They frequently posted about each other on social media.

A Star on the Rise
Then came 13 Reasons Why, a Netflix series which catapulted Dylan into Hollywood stardom following its release in March 2017. You might have heard of the “Welcome to Your Tape” meme.
When season one of 13 Reasons Why dropped, Kerris posted on Instagram about how proud she was of Dylan.
However, fans of the show wanted Dylan and Katherine Langford, the lead actress who played Hannah in the show, to get together. Such delusional behavior is the norm, unfortunately.
Some fans wrote mean-spirited comments about Kerris on interview videos (like the one above), videos of carpet events (where someone had to point out her neck of all things), social media, and so on. They criticized Kerris’ appearance and compared her to Hannah.
Despite the unexpected turn in their relationship, Dylan and Kerris remained together. In April 2017, Wallows released their first single Pleaser, with Kerris featured on the cover art.
In May 2017, Kerris reminded everyone that cyberbullying isn’t the way to be.

In June 2017, Kerris interviewed Dylan about his success in 13 Reasons Why.
In September 2017, Kerris appeared on the cover art of Wallows‘ single Uncomfortable.
However, since Dylan’s newfound fame was inviting unwanted scrutiny into his private life (with Kerris being at the receiving end of his fans’ parasocial behavior), the two posted about each other on Instagram less and less and in a more discreet manner.

The Breakup
Somewhere along the road, Dylan and Kerris parted ways.
Following the breakup, Kerris vented her emotions on Twitter. She mentioned the length of the relationship (four years) and posted about the Taylor Swift song happiness (which is a deceptive title as it is actually a deeply depressing song about moving on from a long-term relationship). However, these tweets have since been deleted, so you’ll have to take my word for it.
After Kerris
In October 2018, Dylan was spotted at Knott’s Scary Farm with Lydia. On Lydia’s 18th birthday, Dylan posted a photo of them together and wished her happy birthday in the caption.

Interestingly, that photo bears some similarity to this photo with Kerris.

Suffice to say, it is unlikely that we’ll see any further interactions between Dylan and Kerris. There will also probably not be another movie featuring them together or with their friends, like the 2017 horror film Totem where Kerris stars alongside Braeden Lemasters (close friend of Dylan and singer and lead guitarist in Wallows).
